“The longest way round is the shortest way home.” — C.S. Lewis

This idea of finding our way back home to ourselves is nothing new. In many native cultures in North and South America, a young person’s rite of passage – sometimes referred to as a ‘vision quest’ – is anything but a shortcut.

A vision quest requires the seeker to go to an isolated location and engage in prayer while forgoing food and water for a period of up to several days. During this time, the seeker navigates the elements, confronts their own limitations, and asks the higher powers for a vision – one that will help them to uncover their purpose in life.

This ancient practice allows an individual to tap into their heart and see their highest potential, bringing forth new levels of clarity and strength.

Today, I want to share an inspiring segment we created with Tieraona Low Dog. In it, she opens up about her own vision quest.

By taking huge leaps of faith, she shares how the universe suddenly opened up for her…

When we dare to trust in something larger than ourselves, it’s amazing how things simply fall into place.

Stay curious,

  1. Dr. Low Dog is an amazing woman. I had the privilege of being at a conference in the Blue Ridge Mountains, many years ago and attending a lecture she gave. Inspirational!

  2. It seems like the universe did not open up but that she had a new feeling about herself. I think it is a bit overstated that the universe opened for her. Sometimes it takes a bit of work to get to make a change in our fixed beliefs. I am so glad she was able to do so.

  3. This was such a beautiful revelation and awareness that happened at the perfect time, a valuable teaching that can occur when one is ready to receive, that I feel drawn to comment positively.

I believe that this possibility and opportunity is available to each and every one of us when we feel caught and unable to take the next important step, without the “purse” of hard judgements we can leave behind. Opening to innate and uniquely personal creativity is wonderful in every sense! Thank you – you are beautiful!

  4. I agree with francine … She was already detached from her primary outer relationship (she was divorced), so “all” she had to do was to decide to detach herself from her fixed beliefs about herself … Yes, that does take work, often more than a little, but at the same time it can be as simple as flipping a switch. I am happy for her that she did it

  5. Nick, dear, you are so gifted with sharing your quest, we appreciate you; glad also you had the wherewithal to have Tieraona Lowdog speak, what a blessing both of you are 💖✨
